The Yangarra philosophy is to produce wines from our single-vineyard estate, that reflect an authentic sense of place.

The property is 170 total hectares, of which nearly 90 hectares are planted to vine. The remaining 80 hectares are preserved for native vegetation and wildlife and is intended to enhance the symbiotic relationship between the vines and their natural environment.

Yangarra’s combination of rare geologies, moderate altitude, abundant sunshine and cool evening breezes make it perfect for growing varieties that thrive in the moderate maritime Mediterranean environments.

Produced from the fruit of dry grown bush vines planted high up in the Estate's elevated vineyards in deep sandy soils. These venerated vines date from 1946 and produce a wine that is complex, perfumed and elegant with a trademark tannin structure.

14.0% ABV

The 2020 harvest will be remembered as a memorable one, albeit for unfortunate reasons. The growing season was marked by an unusually hot spring and devastating bushfires that swept across vast areas of Australia. Fortunately, in McLaren Vale, we were fortunate to be unaffected by both the fires and smoke damage. While the hot spring resulted in the lowest yields on record, as the grapes began their ripening process, the weather miraculously cooled, leading to one of the mildest ripening seasons. This resulted in a wonderful concentration of flavors, the preservation of natural acidity and fruit brightness, and, above all, the development of beautiful finesse and balanced tannins.

Our vineyard is certified as Biodynamic (certification # 11587) by Australian Certified Organic. We take a practical approach, focusing on maintaining healthy and vibrant soil. This involves abstaining from the use of synthetic herbicides or fungicides, utilizing compost and biodynamic preparations, employing sheep during the winter to graze under the vines, and minimizing mechanical soil disruption.

The philosophy of Yangarra is to produce wines from our single-vineyard estate that reflect the true characteristics of the region. The estate covers a total area of 170 hectares, with nearly 90 hectares dedicated to grapevine cultivation.
