Monkey 47 is a batch distilled and handcrafted gin from Germany’s Black Forest. In total, 47 handpicked plant ingredients prepared in extremely soft water from the Black Forest lend Monkey 47 unrivaled complexity and quality. Since its launch in 2010, aficionados, bartenders and connoisseurs the world over have come to appreciate the incredible complexity and harmony.


47% ABV / 500ml

NOSE
Woody, vegetable smells under pin fresh grassy citrus notes and botanical sweetness, like a pine forest after the rain.

PALATE
Predictably complex, this is a robust and powerful gin with plenty of spice, fruit and herb flavours. It's very well structured, and difficult to unpick but a citrus fresh start segues into pine and wood notes for a drying finish.

FINISH
Wooded and reassuringly heavy.

Over a third of the 47 ingredients in Monkey 47 come from the Black Forest and are not among the typical gin spices, including wild hibiscus, sloe, elderberry, dog rose, hedge rose, acacia, chamomile, and blackberry. How we like to drink it

BEE'S KNEES

45ml Monkey 47 Schwarzwald Dry Gin
20ml Fresh Lime Juice
15ml Runny Honey (2 parts honey, 1 part warm water. Mix until honey is dissolved and well-incorporated)
Lemon peel, to garnish

Pour all ingredients into a shaker and fill with ice. Shake hard for 8-10 seconds and strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with a lemon peel.
